About Us

Vishva Hindu Parishad of Norway (VHPN) was founded by a few prominent Indians in Oslo on the banks of Akerselva in 1983. It is our privilege to be one of the first countries in the world to start such an organisation.

The founding fathers of this organisation envision the world as one family “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”. This vision is to spread the message of inter-dependence of human societies, nature and her environment – “Harmony with the Creation”. This cosmic harmony depends on Dharma. Dharma means eternal and universal values for the well-being of all.

It’s a non-profit organisation which is run by volunteers. VHPN has its own premises at the heart of Oslo.

The VHPN is a community organisation and strives for the ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one large family). The prime aim of VHPN is to promote the principles of Unity in Diversity, social cohesion, integration, harmony, peace and inclusiveness with partnership and support from the local Councils(Kommune).

The VHPN also promotes activities of culture, community arts, community languages, education, aid and relief to the needy, or any other activity in the advancement of general public benefits. Organising social and cultural events are also part of the VHPN activity.
